USB is pretty much synonymous with external peripherals. The interface has become so popular that it can be found on pretty much every computer system. The problem is that it has become so popular that many people do not have enough USB ports on their computers for peripherals. For those using notebook computers, adding a USB hub can be problematic, so I generally recommend using a USB PC Card to help add ports.
