This model does not come with a IEEE 1394 Firewire. Firewire is optional which will occupied one PCI expansion slot… At the End it actually have no more expansion slot to expand the system.

My name is Joe this has been a very bad experience for me. Dealing with Dell Computer technical support

I have been on the telephone with Dell Technical Support since receiving a new computer E520 from Dell. The first computer had conflicts with PC Cillin and the DVD drive did not work. The second computer had a bad floppy drive and the third computer has conflicts in the BIOS. I have been on the phone trying to get a good computer from Dell since 11/28/2006, I am still having problems with the third computer. I also ordered a Fuji S6000 digital camera from Dell, that was a mistake, now I having to return the digital camera after one week. I paid for overnight shipping and now your CSR’s are telling me they don’t know when the camera will be shipped and yet they promised me overnight shipping. I have talked with over thirty or more people at Dell trying to resolve Dell computer and digital camera issues. Managers have hang on me and didn’t bother to call me back. CSR’s has been very rude and or not willing to take the time to help a customer. I remember a couple CSR’s hang-up on me while I was explaining the computer problem (I guest they didn’t want to listen). I talked to John a manager in Technical Support he stated that someone would be calling me to remove the floppy drive from the computer because the computer keep trying to read a floppy disk when shutting down. I ask John to send someone to remove the floppy drive and put in a spacer. It has been 3 days and John never contacted me. I wrote down several case numbers to show you how much time I have spent on the telephone trying to resolve a matter that could have been easily result by a caring CSR. You have some major problems with your customer care team. In Reference to case numbers 152390161,152365152,150233470,151284348,150051177,150047687,150198926,150203549,15001177,152475019,149984797,152338186,151524722,151523053,150912208,

I unfortunately must agree with Joe below. This is my fourth Dell in a row and I have never had problems until now. The computer worked great for 45 days and then the Blue Screen of Death started happening every 10 minutes. Over three days I spent more than 12 hours on the phone with Tech support. Every night after work I would have to come home and try and troubleshoot for them. Why did I even buy the warranty???? Finally after the third day, I stopped calling tech support and called customer service. I would not get off the phone until someone promised to send me a replacement computer. After an hour and a half, they relented. I should not have had to spend this much time on a brand new computer! This might be my last Dell….

I have been trying for 2 weeks to get my E520 up and working. It crashed when I tried to add a wireless router (bought from Dell). After one week, they sent me a replacement tower which would never boot up. Still getting the run around from them.

(7) compreviews says:

A wireless router is independent of the desktop computer system so I fail to see how it would have caused the Dell system from functioning. It was more than likely that system had a separate issue that came up at the same time. I can’t really help much in terms of Dell’s support, but I would advise reading my profile on them at http://compreviews.about.com/od/support/p/Dell.htm and letting others know of your experiences with them.

(8) louisa says:

same as above. mine crashed the first time i switched it on. multiple hardware and software failrues. was assured that it would be fixed as they refused to give me a refund or replacement. the “repaired” computer is still a p.o.s. so now, after MONTHS of hassle, i’m in the process of taking Dell to court unless the refund in full and compensate.

DO NOT BUY FROM DELL!
If you do, I assure you that if there are ANY problems with your system you will regret not listening to me in the first place.
STAY AWAY!
