Intel's Outstanding Value Desktop Processor

Quad core processors seem to be the big thing right now from both Intel and AMD. The problem is that most applications are still not written for use with multiple cores. This adds to the overall cost of the system for essentially unused processor potential. In this respect, dual core processors tend to provide a better overall value.

One of the best overall values for desktop processors right now is the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. It is very well priced compared to the Quad and Extreme processor models, but offers very good overall performance for the dollar. And with a little overclocking it can provide an even stronger value. Find out more in my review.
