Holiday PC Shopping Help
Choosing a system from the myriad of laptops and desktop computers available can be a daunting task during the holidays. With all the specials offered by the retailers for Black Friday, it becomes even more difficult. Does the machine in the ad meet the needs of the user? Is it already an outdated paperweight?
If you aren't quite sure what it is you need, don't worry there is help. The first is my What Computer Should I Buy? questionnaire. After answering a series of question on how the computer will be used, it provides a list of suggestions to help narrow down your search. In addition, I have a Laptop PC Buyer's Guide for those looking at mobile computers and a Desktop PC Buyer's Guide for the more traditional PC. These assist in looking at the different features advertised in a laptop or desktop and how they may impact your use.

What is a good or better sound card these days to add to computer. Just pur one with it on motherboard and I know they quality would be better with a separate sound card?
If the computer is going to be used for general audio and not for PC Gaming or a Home Entertainment system, then the built in audio is generally acceptable for most uses. I generally only recommend getting a separate sound card for Gaming systems or ones used for a home theater and watching TV or DVDs.
