Systemax Support Profile

Friday February 20, 2009

Systemax PCs are most directly related to TigerDirect. Both of these companies are owned by a parent company called Systemax. TigerDirect is used to sell the Systemax PC line of computers in addition to other computer products. They offer some systems with some pretty strong features for extremely reasonable prices. The question is, can they also provide a strong level of support for those systems? Find out what kind of support Systemax provides in my profile.

Included in the profile I list the various avenues that users have for support, tips and advice. In addition, I’m posting a survey below and in the profile asking users for their opinion of Systemax. If you have used their support and would like to let others know of their experiences for better or worse, please feel free to post them in the comments.

How would you rate Systemax's support?

Be careful of Tiger Direct. Their rebate is misleading on Systemax computers.

I make the mistake of buying a Systemax desktop computer and for the amount of money I paid, its a POS. I have had issues with it from day 1 and the support personnel are less than helpful.

Warning: Don’t ever buy one of their computers!

I had no problems with the computer itself. As a matter of fact, I find Systemax computers to be as good as any other pc out there in it’s price range. This one has lasted for years. My problem is with customer support.. there is practically none. Only a phone number to replace the recovery cd’s, which I used and recieved cd’s that contained a bogus copy of Windows Xp Home Edition. As of now I am screwed for this software reformatted the hard drive with this copy of Xp to which Microsoft claims is not an authentic copy. So I’m going to be out of a couple hundred bucks to get a REAL version of Xp loaded. I know if the original recovery cd’s were not lost in the first place, I would’nt be having this problem, but this pc was a gift to children of another household and you know kids (even 13-17yrs) will lose anything and everything. I’m planning to report this to Microsoft as software fraud.

(4) Tiger Direct Customer says:

I just bought a Systemax computer and the only trouble I am having with it is that the DVD drive won’t play DVDs. It recognizes other discs, but not DVD. As for support, I am waiting to find out as they are Monday through Friday only.
The system itself is fast and seems to work fine.
