There are a large number of laptops available these days for around $500. They generally aren't the fastest or fanciest of models available, but they get the job done. They also have the advantage of being more capable than the netbooks they compete with on price. NewEgg currently is offering a Lenovo G530 15.4-inch laptop for just $450. It comes equipped with a Pentium Dual-Core T3400 processor, 3GB DDR2, 250GB hard drive, DVD burner, 15.4-inch display, 802.11b/g wirelss and Vista Home Premium software.
