Intel has really shaken up the performance segment of the desktop market with its 2nd generation Core i processors. Although designed for the mainstream, they often outperform the previous 900 series socket 1366 models that are still priced more than them. Add to this falling prices due to the economy and competition from AMD and you now have much more affordable desktops than just a year ago.
