It has been some time since I took a look at the desktop processor market. There hasn't been any major new processors announced yet but a number of smaller updates have been made and prices have dropped partly due to the lack of new designs but also because of dropping demand from consumers. This means it is possible to get some high performance desktop processors for some very reasonable prices.
