Ultrabooks may be a big trend right now thanks to their thin profiles and long running times but they have the problem of being somewhat more expensive than traditional laptops. There are a number of ultrathin traditional laptops that can provide a similar experience but at a lower cost. One such example is the Lenovo IdeaPad S405 from NewEgg for just $380. Rather than using Intel's platform, it uses an AMD A8-4555M which is a true quad core processor. Other features include 4GB of DDR3 memory, 500GB hard drive, 14-inch display, Radeon HD 7600G graphics built into the processor, 802.11b/g/n wireless and Windows 8. It does not feature a DVD burner at all but this does allow for a profile of around one inch and weight under three pounds.
