Most people probably don't think much about optical drives when they purchase a new desktop system. This is likely because the industry has standardized much of their systems to include DVD burners even on the least expensive systems and they aren't as relevant as they once were. Of course, the drives on these systems can vary heavily in performance. Then there is the issue of the Blu-ray high definition format and whether or not a PC comes wit the software for video playback. To find out more about optical drives that can be found in desktop PCs, check out my Desktop CD, DVD and Blu-ray Buyer's Guide.
