Guide Review - Compaq Presario S5000nx
10/13/03 - Compaq's S5000nx is a fairly well equipped budget system, but it has some trade offs to make it priced under $500. On the plus side, the system ships with a fairly fast Intel 2.5 GHz Celeron Processor and a 48x CD-RW optical drive. There are two major downsides to the computer system. First it only ships with 128MB of PC2100 DDR memory. This is enough to run the system, but it meets the bare minimum required for the operating system. This means applications running on top of the OS will tend to be slowed down. It also lacks and AGP expansion slot. This means users who may want to upgrade to a real 3D accelerated video card will be unable to do so. In the end, it makes a decent system for those looking to surf the web.
