The Bottom Line
If you are willing to watch for Dell's changes on the sub-$500 configuration of the Dimension 2400, you can walk away with a very strong machine for the money.

Guide Review - Dell Dimension 2400
10/13/03 - Dell's Dimension 2400 is available in a wide range of configurations, but they generally always have one available for under $500. The specifications in this review were based on the posted specs on the review date, but these specs changed based on Dell's component supplies. That stated, individuals will likely have to watch Dell to find similar specs. If an individual is willing to take that time, they can find a well configured system. The one at the time of review came with a Celeron 2.4 GHz CPU, 256MB memory, 80GB hard drive, 48x CD-RW Combo drive. This makes a powerful system with lots of storage space. The problem with all configurations though is the lack of an AGP slot for possible video card upgrading.
