Guide Review - Gateway 700XL
6/8/03 - Gateway's 700 XL system is definitely a high performance system. It comes equipped with Intel's Pentium 4 3.0 GHz processor and i875P Chipset. This is supported by 1 GB of DDR400 memory and 500 GB of total hard drive space. They have also put in a 4x DVD-RW and 48x CD-RW optical drives. To support the multimedia capabilities, the system comes with the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 and an 18" LCD monitor. While a lot of this will boost the performance of the system, the overall performance boost compared to the price increase is bit disappointing. Other systems with higher performance are available for less.
