Guide Review - IBM NetVista M42
8/20/03 - IBM is a good company for providing systems to corporations, but their selection for consumer based system lacks many features. The NetVista M42 model 830741U is a good example of a system that is lacking many consumer features. First off the system is based around older Intel technologies such as the i845G chipset and Pentium 4 with 533MHz bus speed. Many less expensive or comparable systems use the newer 800 MHz bus speed CPUs. The system comes with a minimal 256MB of memory which is enough for basic operation, but 512 would greatly improve performance. The system even lacks a CD burner or even DVD-ROM capability. In the end, this system has a lot of drawbacks that make it a poor choice for consumers.
