Guide Review - Seagate Baracuda V 120GB SATA Hard Drive
Seagate was the first company to release a Serial ATA based hard drive to the public market with its Barracuda V drive. The drive offers performance on par with high-end IDE hard drives but with the ease of the Serial ATA interface. Since it only uses the Serial ATA interfaces, its important to have a Serial ATA power adapter cable. This is not included with the bare drive but is with the retail kit. Of course Serial ATA drive technology is still fairly new to the market and so prices are higher than comparable IDE drives. Seagate is working on their second generation drive the Barracuda 7200.7 which should improve overall performance.
