Guide Review - Acer TravelMate TM242X
10/6/03 - The budget category for laptops is a tough market to compete in. Many of the systems feature similar components and the manufacturers must choose what to include and drop. In the case of the Acer TravelMate 242X system, they chose to include the latest Intel 2.4 GHz Celeron processor. This gives the system a good amount of power for computing. The sacrifices to the system come in the lack of a CD-RW or DVD functionality on the optical drive and no productivity bundle. This makes a good system choice for those who don't need a fast low cost computer with very little extras.
