Guide Review - Averatec 5110H

11/9/03 - Averatec is a fairly new company in the portable PC marketplace with the goal of providing low cost, quality computers. At this time, they only provide thin and light notebook computers. The 5110H is the higher end model, providing features that are competitive against other systems. It is a Centrino system featuring an Intel Pentium M processor and 802.11b wireless. One amazing thing about it is the amount of memory provided, 512MB, that is very good considering the price. To reduce costs though, some of the other components are of lower quality. While it features a sizable 15" LCD screen, it is powered by the Intel Extreme integrated graphics. Many competing system offer better graphics solutions. In addition, some users may find the keyboard design to be too spongy. In the end though, the Averatec 5110H is a well rounded laptop, especially for its price.
