Guide Review - Gateway 450X
11/11/03 - Gateway's 450X is a high quality system, but it has fallen somewhat with its mix of new and old components. The system is based on the Intel Centrino package with a Pentium M processor and 802.11b wireless. It features a very impressive 15" high resolution LCD panel that looks great, but Gateway teams this with an older ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 graphics rather than a newer solution. Storage and memory are average for the thin and light category. The 450X systems does have two Type II PC Card slots, something that competing models generally offer one of although this is not as vital with the rise of USB 2.0 peripherals. Dimensions and weight are a bit on the heavy side due to the large LCD screen. In the end, the Gateway 450X makes for a good quality system with average overall performance.
