Guide Review - HP Compaq nc4000
9/14/03 - The HP Compaq nc4000 is a fairly expensive ultraportable that is aimed at the business segment. It is targetted towards business because of those items it has and does not have. For example, this is one of the few notebooks available that features a Gigabit Ethernet interface, yet it lacks a FireWire port. Optical drives are not standard, requiring the purchase of an external MultiBay drive. One of the big features is its ATI Radeon Mobility processor with dedicated memory. Many ultraportables use integrated graphics solutions that share system memory, eating into available system resources. Businesses will also like this system because of its standard 3 year warranty. All of this adds up to a higher price than competing models.
