Guide Review - IBM ThinkPad R40 Value

10/9/03 - IBM makes some really high quality notebook computer system, but the R40 value edition falls short in terms of its specifications. This budget system ships with a very limited 1.8 GHz Celeron processor and 128MB of memory, much lower than its competitors. Storage is also lower than others with a 20GB hard drive and a 24x CD-ROM drive. There are a few items that it does have over its competitors though. Most budget systems use shared memory for the graphics, but the R40 ships with 16MB of dedicated graphics memory to free up needed system memory. It also ships with a FireWire port that most of the competitors do not. In the end though, there are better values available over this model ThinkPad
