Readers Favorite Desktop, Laptops and PC Monitors
The 2011 Readers' Choice Awards on About.com
About.com's 2011 Readers' Choice Awards showcased the best products, features and services in multiple categories, from technology to hobbies to parenting. The nomination and voting process has been completed. Below are the finalists in their categories with the winner of each category bolded plus a short analysis. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks for all who participated in the nomination and voting.
Best Laptop

This category was a very close one with Apple, ASUS and Dell all with a very similar number of votes. In the end, Dell edged out the other two to win the Readers' Choice. Dell was likely helped out by some consolidation from their wide range of laptops to a more cohesive set of product lines.
Best Desktop
- Acer
- Apple
- Dell
- Gateway
- HP
Dell once again pulls off a win in the readers' opinions but by a much larger margin in this case. With fewer companies specializing in the production of desktop systems, it isn't that surprising to see people select Dell as they have a much better selection that the other nominees.
Best Monitor

- Samsung
Being one of the largest producers of LCD panels in the world and having a huge range of products helped Samsung to win this category. With good price and high quality, Samsung monitors tend to be a good all-around choice. It would be nice to see the company release some high end professional color monitors though.
Best Gaming Laptop

- Dell
- MAINGEAR
- Origin PC
Voting in this category was very close with MAINGEAR and Origin PC switches places throughout the vote. In the end, MAINGEAR ended up with the most votes to win the selection. It is no surprise that the two companies have a similar level of following as many of their laptops are based around the same Clevo laptop designs resulting in products that are nearly identical.

- Origin PC
Just like the Gaming Laptop category, MAINGEAR and Origin PC have a fierce battle for first place throughout the voting. This time, Origin PC came out on top with the most votes to win the favor of About.com's readers.
