Guide Review - Averatec D1205XH1E-1 25.5-inch All-In-One Desktop PC
Jun 30 2009 - Averatec's D1205XH1E-1 is the companies largest of their all-in-one desktop systems with a very big 25.5-inch display featuring a 1920x1200 resolution fully capable of displaying 1080p high definition video. This is a key feature to the system as it also comes integrated with a digital TV tuner for over the air broadcasts. This would make it good to double as a home theater PC but it could use more. Items like a Blu-ray compatible drive and HDMI video input for use with satellite or cable HDTV would really make this a superb system. Still, it does offer more than most for just $1000.
Performance on the D1205XH1E-1 is quite good thanks to the use of the Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 desktop processor. This puts it above most that use mobile processor parts but it does fall somewhat behind others using more powerful desktop processors. It does come with 4GB of DDR2 memory allowing it to run smoothly with multiple applications running.
Storage is typical of the all-in-one desktop market. The 320GB hard drive is fairly small when compared to a full sized desktop but decent when compared to a laptop drive. It is a larger 3.5-inch desktop drive with a 7200rpm spin rate for higher performance than laptop based drives. The DVD burner is standard but as mentioned before, it would have been nice to see a Blu-ray compatible drive.
Graphics wise the display is very large and bright for its size. Some will probably be disappointed by the integrated graphics solution. This isn't uncommon with the all-in-one desktop systems but for something with so large of a screen, it would be nice to see a dedicated part for it to be used with 3D applications such as games.
Overall though, the Averatec D1205XH1E-1 is an excellent overall value for such a large screened all-in-one desktop PC.
