The Bottom Line
While many computer manufacturers seem to be pricing their systems above the $500 price, the Acer Aspire E360 system can generally be found below this price and offers a reasonably well equipped system for the price albeit with a limited number of peripheral ports.

Guide Review - Acer Aspire E360

10/23/06 – Powering the Acer Aspire E360 system is the AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor. This is a reasonably fast single core processor that performs much better than budget oriented processors such as the Sempron or Celeron. It is an older version of the Athlon processor however and uses the slightly slower DDR memory rather than newer DDR2. Its 512MB of memory is standard for a budget desktop system and will let it run most basic applications without trouble.

Storage on the Aspire E360 is what you would expect from most budget desktops today. The hard drive provides a total of 200GB of storage space which should be enough for most programs and applications. Those looking to go lots of digital video might want to consider getting a larger hard drive. It also comes with a multi-format DVD burner to allow it to read and write audio, video and data CDs or DVDs.

In order to cut down the costs, most budget desktops use an integrated graphics processor and the Acer Aspire E360 is no different. It uses an older nForce 4 chipset that provides good 2D performance but its 3D capabilities are limited with todays games. The system does have a PCI-Express x16 graphics slot for upgrading but the 300W power supply will be limited to lower end cards. The system does not come with a monitor.

One of the biggest complaints of the Aspire E360 is the limited number of USB ports. The four ports are much lower than the average desktop system.
