The Bottom Line
While the Acer Aspire SA20 may not have as many features or specifications as most other budget desktop computer systems, it makes up for this by being very inexpensive yet decent for those looking for a basic computer system.

Guide Review - Acer Aspire SA20

10/24/05 – The biggest thing going for the Acer Aspire SA20 is its price. It is priced well below much of the other budget desktop computer systems in the market and that is reflected in the components within it.

The Aspire SA20 is based around the Intel Celeron D 340 (2.93GHz) processor. This is actually a fairly fast version of the processor to be found in the budget system. The system however only comes equipped with 256MB of PC3200 DDR memory. While this is sufficient to run the OS and some basic applications, the system will slow down significantly with multitasking or memory intensive programs.

Storage on the Aspire SA20 is about average for systems in this price range. An 80GB ATA hard drive provides storage for programs and data. This may not be a large amount for those doing a lot of digital video, but it should be sufficient for most users. A 16x DVD+/-RW dual layer burner allows the system to read or write data, music and movie DVDs or CDs. This is a really nice touch for such a low cost system.

Graphics are a bit disappointing for the Aspire SA20. It uses the integrated Extreme 2 graphics that uses up 64MB of the system memory and lacks any real 3D graphics capability. To make matters worse, the system does not include a PCI-Express or AGP graphics slot for future expansion.

This overall makes the Acer Aspire SA20 good for those looking for a basic computer without many frills, but if you have the budget, a little more can go a long ways.
