Guide Review - Zt Systems Affinity 5024Zi-33 Budget Desktop Personal Computer5/8/08 - The first thing that most people will notice about the Zt Systems Affinity 5024Zi is the extremely low price. This is one of the least expensive desktop systems on the market that still features a decent set of features. It is far from perfect but it seems to work very well for those looking for a PC to do the basics. The Affinity 5024Zi uses an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2180 dual core processor. This is a fairly common choice for a budget desktop system and it runs basic applications without any problem. The only real issue is that the Affinity uses an older Intel chipset. This limits the upgrade potential of the system to a newer processor or even a much higher level of memory. At least it comes equipped with 2GB of DDR2 memory to let it run the Vista operating system without much issue. Storage for the Affinity 5024Zi is slightly below average, but that is to be expected with the price. The hard drive is a 250GB drive rather than a more common 320GB model. This could cause space issues for those looking to have a lot of digital media files. It does feature a dual layer DVD burner for recording and playback of CD or DVD media. Those hoping to use flash media cards will be disappointed by the lack of a card reader. Those looking to hook a digital camcorder to their PC should be aware of another issue with the Affinity 5024Zi. The system does not include any FireWire ports that are the most common interface between PCs and digital camcorders. This means users will have to upgrade the system if they need this functionality. |
