Description
Guide Review - Compaq Presario SR5450F Budget Desktop Personal Computer4/29/08 The Compaq Presario SR5450F is powered by the Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2180 desktop processor. This is a fairly standard processor for a budget oriented system that does fine for general computing but falls behind the Core 2 Duo's in terms of performance. The 2GB of memory should let it run Vista smoothly. The problem is the SR5450F only features two memory slots that essentially prevent it from really having any memory upgrades without completely replacing the memory. Storage is one area where the Presario SR5450F does extremely well. The large 500GB hard drive is fairly large for a budget system and provides plenty of space for applications and data including digital media. The dual layer DVD burner is pretty standard for most desktop systems these days, but it also features LightScribe for burning labels directly to compatible CD and DVD media. A 15-in-1 card reader also lets it read the most popular of the flash memory cards used by many digital peripherals. Software has traditionally been a strong point for most of the systems sold by HP and Compaq. The SR5450F features applications for most of the tasks one might have for the system. This is great because it can reduce the extra costs of software after the purchase. The problem is that they also load in a large amount of trialware. This results is a large amount of memory that is eaten up by applications that The big draw for the Presario SR5450F though is the price. It offers a very well laid out budget system for cost below what many other companies are offering. This makes it a good choice for someone looking for a general purpose system especially if they don't expect to do much upgrading. |
