Guide Review - eMachines T6532

4/12/06 – Emachines T6532 is blistering fast for a budget desktop system. It is powered by the very strong AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor. This combined with the 1GB PC3200 DDR memory should let the system power through most applications.

Storage is very strong for the eMachines T6532. The system comes with a very large 200GB hard drive that should provide plenty of space for programs and digital files. In order to reduced costs some, the drive only uses a 2MB cache that does reduce performance somewhat. It also comes with a 16x DVD+/-RW dual layer burner to allow the system to create movie, music or data DVDs and CDs. Finally, it comes with a 9-in-1 media card reader for use with digital peripheral memory cards.

Graphics are a step up for most budget desktop systems. The integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6100 graphics processor can handle some basic 3D applications, but those looking to play PC games will be glad to know the system has a 16x PCI Express graphics card slot for expansion. This is something that eMachines has stated will be included with all future desktop system.

Even with all these features, there are a few minor problems with the system. First, there is no FireWire ports that makes the system a bit more difficult for those looking to transfer video from DV camcorders. Second, the Media Center OS can't fully be utilized as the system does not come with a remote or TV tuner.
