Guide Review - Acer TravelMate TM2413LCi

10/17/05 – Acer's TravelMate TM2413LCi is one of the less expensive notebook computers available currently and has a very intriguing mix of components. The system is based around the Intel Celeron M 360 processor, a low cost processor that is designed for mobile systems and provides good battery life but not with the same performance as the Pentium M. The system comes with 512MB of memory, but it uses a much older and slower PC2100 DDR memory.

Storage on the system is above average for the TM2413LCi. The system has an above average 60GB hard drive for a budget notebook. This provides roughly 50% more space than the average. While more and more companies are starting to provide DVD burners on their budget notebooks, the TM2431LCi still uses the 24x CD-RW/DVD combo drive that allows it to record music and data CDs or playback DVD movies.

Graphics with the system are quite normal. The notebook features a fairly large 15” LCD screen with a 1024x768 resolution that is very easy to read. It is teamed up with the Intel Extreme 2 integrated graphics that is common in many budget notebook computers. It has the ability to do 3D graphics, but don't expect to be playing any 3D PC games on it.

If there is one area that the Acer TravelMate TM2413LCi has a problem, its with the software. While it features the XP Professional operating system that is great for companies and businesses, it lacks any productivity software at all which can add to the expense.
