10/25/04 - HP Compaq is one of the dominant players in the budget notebook category, but the number of models that they offer in the retail channel at this price has dropped. One of the few remaining models is the HP Compaq Presario 2210us.
Powering the Presario 2210us is the new Intel Celeron M 330 (1.4GHz) processor. This is a variant of the popular Pentium M processor that has half of the normal internal cache. This gives it the same power benefits of the Pentium M, but at a slightly reduced computing capability. Matched up with this is 512MB of PC2100 DDR memory that should let it run Windows XP without much problem.
Storage for the Presario 2210us is average. It comes with a mid-sized 40GB hard drive for file storage and a 24x CD-RW/DVD combo optical drive. This allows the Presario 2210us be used to create data or music CDs and also play DVD movies on the unit.
Graphics are also fairly standard for the budget category. It has a large 15" LCD screen and uses an integrated Intel Extreme graphics processor. This means that the system is capable of 3D graphics but doesn't have enough power for 3D games.
The area where the HP Compaq Presario 2210us does very well is the software. It comes with a very sizable bundle of applications that cover a wide range of application that a user might need. This makes the Presario 2210us a good all around choice for the budget oriented consumer.
