Antec's TruePower line of computer power supplies has been an extremely popular and reliable line thanks to its dedicated power circuitry and dedication to quality. The recent Pentium 4 redesigns and the new Athlon 64 SLI platforms have increased the demands of the power a computer requires. Because of these changes, Antec has updated their TruePower line to the new 2.0 version. In this product tour, we will be examining their current top of the line model, the TruePower 2.0 550W EPS12V.
The primary noted updates to the TruePower 2.0 series include:
- Single 120mm Low Noise Fan (2x80mm for EPS12V)
- Dual 12V Outputs For Stability
- 21.3dBA Measured Noise Level
- ATX 2.01 Compliant 24-pin Main Power
- 4 Serial ATA Power Connectors
- PCI Express Power Connectors
This is a fair number of changes that have occurred over the older TruePower series. Many of these make the TruePower 2.0 a much better selection for even older computer systems compared to the previous versions.
As noted in the features, the EPS12V version is slightly different than the rest of the models. Internally, it has the same power ratings as the normal 550W. Externally there are two major differences. The first is the twin 80mm fans rather than the single 120mm fan. The noise ratings are still the same. The other difference is the inclusion of an 8-pin EPS power connector.
