The open side view of the PC-V1100B gives a lot of insight into what Lian-Li has done to try and develop a silent computer case. The most notable item is the separation between the upper and lower portions of the case. More detail will be discussed on this in the next section.
One item that isn't visible in the picture is the insulating foam on the side panels. This helps reduce the noise from inside of the case bleeding out into the environment. This also acts like an insulation layer trapping heat inside of the case. The side panels are also fastened in by a sliding bar that is affected to the case by a screw in the upper portion that is well designed.
The upper portion has a very wide open space for the motherboard. Lian-Li typically has slide out motherboard trays, but the extra space due to the redesign means it isn't necessary. There are five total 5 1/4” drive bays in the front portion, one is used by the CD/DVD drive and another by the floppy drive. This brings us to one of the flaws. The upper front portion of the case has no air intake which can make this a very hot zone inside the case.
At the back of the case is one of the two 120mm low noise fans. It is installed onto the case frame with some rubber grommets to help reduce the amount of vibration noise generated by its use.
