The Bottom Line
Corsair's TWINX 3200XL memory provides very low latencies which matter for those doing very memory intensive tasks but unlike most Corsair XMS memory, it does not have much overclocking range.

Guide Review - Corsair TWINX 3200XL DDR Memory

6/1/05 - Corsair has made a name for itself in the PC enthusiast community for making high quality performance memory modules. This has primarily been geared towards those individuals that are looking to overclock their computer systems for a boost in performance. The TWINX-3200XL memory is slightly different in that it is aimed at those looking for the highest performance running at the standard DDR 400MHz memory speeds.

Most PC3200 DDR memory modules tend to default to fairly loose timings as defined by the JDEC standards. For the 3200XL, Corsair has taken and tested memory modules that will run at the 400MHz speed with extremely fast 2-2-2-5 latencies. These timings are also setup in the SPD so they will automatically use them. One of the things users need to be aware of is that these timings are tested at a 2.75v setting, so be sure to setup the motherboard for this voltage.

Testing of the memory was done on a DFI LanParty UT NF4 motherboard with an AMD Athlon 3500+ Venice processor using SiSoft Sandra memory bandwidth benchmark. At the stock speeds, the memory achieved a very respectable 5726 Int Buffered and 5663 Float Buffered score.

The best overclocking achieved for the memory was a speed of 450MHz at low 2-3-3-6 timings and a 2.9 voltage. Sandra scores for this speed were 6345 and 6290 respectively for a 10% performance boost. This is decent for the timings, but well below what other modules from Corsair and others can achieve.
