The Bottom Line
Fujitsu's LifeBook N6220 is a very well rounded notebook capable of a lot of tasks, but its just too heavy and is missing some features that should be standard on desktop replacement notebooks in this price range.

Guide Review - Fujitsu LifeBook N6220

1/23/06 – Fujitsu's LifeBook N6220 has many of the same features as the previous N6210 model with a few enhancements for multimedia. It is still powered by the Intel Pentium M 750 (1.86GHz) processor that is quite good for performance and battery life. The system only ships with 512MB of PC2-4200 DDR memory. While this is high speed RAM, most desktop replacements now ship with a full gigabyte of memory.

Storage and connectivity is the high point for the LifeBook N6220. Rather than using a single drive, it uses two 80GB 4,200rpm hard drives to provide 160GB of storage space. This should provide plenty of space for those with a large number of digital media files. The standard 8x DVD+/-RW dual layer burner provides the ability to create music, movie or data CDs and DVDs.

Multimedia wise, the LifeBook N6220 is good but doesn't excel like other desktop replacements. The large 17” wide screen LCD is great for watching DVDs or for general computing. The ATI Mobility Radeon X600 provides good overall 3D graphics performance. It is enough for 3D gaming, but PC gamers might want a more powerful graphics processor.

There are several flaws with the LifeBook N6220 though. Most notably is the weight. This is one of the heaviest notebooks on the market and will likely make many reconsider using it as a portable. Second, it ships with Windows XP Media Center Edition, but the TV tuner is optional to the unit unless you buy the top of the line model.
