Compaq Presario R3275US

7/19/04 - The Compaw Presario R3000 line is designed to be a low cost desktop replacement snotebook. For most of the models, an integrated graphics solution is used to help reduce the costs. The R3725US differs from the other R3000 models because it has a dedicated graphics processor.

Powering the R3275US is a Pentium 4 3.0GHz desktop processor. This should provide plenty of performance for most computing tasks. Matched to this is 512MB of PC2700 DDR memory. The R3275US is a bit different from most notebooks in that it only has one accessible memory slot. This caps the maximum memory at 1280MB which is much lower than most desktop replacements.

Storage on the system is above average. It comes with a DVD+R/RW burner, but its speeds are not stellar compare to many competing burners. Hard drive capacity is very high with 80MB. The hard drive uses a slower 4200rpm spin rate that limits the performance of the drive though. Also included is a 5-in-1 media card reader for most flash memory needs.

Powering the graphics for the R3275US is the ATI Mobility 9200 graphics with 64MB of memory. This is a huge improvement over the integrated solution of the normal R3000 series notebooks, but it is significantly slower than other systems and lacks DirectX 9 support. The screen is also a smaller 15.4" wide screen LCD.

Rounding out the R3275US is a very good software package with Windows XP Professional and Works 7.0 productivity suite. This makes the R3275 good for general purpose work.
