Definition: FireWire - A serial computer interface originally developed by Apple computers that is commonly used for transferring digital video and data. Ther original version called FireWire or FireWire 400 has a speed of 400MB/s while the new FireWire 800 can run at 800MB/s and is backwards compatible with the older standard.
Also Known As: IEEE1394 and Sony iLink
