Definition: PCI Express - An new expansion card interface for personal computers that uses a form of serial connection based on data lanes. The cards can be classified based on the number of lanes the interface users such as 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x or 16x. The most common currently is 16x used for graphics cards. Each lane gives a data bandwidth of 500MB/s. It is not compatible with the PCI interface cards.
