2/18/05 - Powering the Compaq Presario SR1350NX is the Intel Pentium 4 519J (3.06GHz) processor. This processor should be more than enough power for most users. It is matched up with 512MB of PC3200 memory allowing it to run smoothly in most applications.
Storage on the 1350NX is very good. The 200GB SerialATA hard drive should provide plenty of storage for those even looking to do digital video. The optical storage provides a unique feature with the Lightscribe enabled 16x DVD+/-RW burner. With suitable DVD media, the burned disc can be turned over and then a custom label written to the top with the included software. The Lightscribe media that is currently slower than standard media.
Graphics on the 1350NX are somewhat disappointing. The system uses the integrated Intel GMA 900 graphics adapter that is suitable for most standard uses but not well suited for PC gaming. It also does not include an AGP or PCIe expansion slot. This restricts the user to only using the integrated solution.
One area that the 1350NX is very strong is the software bundle. All of the basic applications that one could need with a computer purchase are included in the system. Whether it be browsing the web, securing the computer, writing a paper, editing a video or listening to music, it is all included.
Overall, the Compaq Presario SR1350NX is an average choice. The price is not much greater than the budget systems and provides a good boost in performance but lacks graphics for gaming.
