The video card market has been buzzing lately with the release of the latest NVIDIA graphics processor, but much that is overshadowing the previous generation of cards and what they are capable of. There is also the added factor that the cost of the new cards based on the 7800 series are much more expensive than even dedicated PC enthusiasts are willing to pay for. And of course with the release of the latest graphics cards, the prices on the 6800 should hopefully start dropping.
The AOpen Aeolus 6800-DVD256 is a new graphics card based around the GeForce 6800 graphics processor. It is their first 6800 model designed for the PCI-Express graphics interface rather than the AGP graphics like their previous 6800-DV128. It also supports 256MB of graphics memory to help improve performance on games that use a large amount of textures. This puts the Aeolus 6800-DVD256 squarely between the higher priced 6800 GT board and the lower cost 6600 GT, both very highly regarded solutions.
