Connectors
The connectors on the AOpen Aeolus 6800-DVD256 look no different from most new PC graphics cards. It comes standard with two DVI connectors for new LCD monitors with digital interfaces. If the monitor is going to be hooked up to a monitor using the older VGA connector, just used one of the supplied DVI-to-VGA converters. At the top of the card is a specialized S-Video connector. A standard S-Video cable can be used or with the supplied cable, component video can be used.
Benchmarking Notes
All benchmarking of the eVGA GeForce 6800 GT was conducted with the following hardware and software:
- CPU AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice
- Motherboard DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-DR
- Memory OCZ Value VX 2x512MB Dual Channel Kit
- Hard Drive Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB x 2 RAID 0 Array
- OS Windows XP Service Pack 2
- Graphics Driver ForceWare 71.89
All tests were conducted at 1280x1024 as this is the most common native resolution for 17 and 19 LCD monitors. Tests were also conducted with the card in its default core and memory clock speeds. The card was not tested with SLI due to the lack of a second card. Overclocking was also not conducted due to a lack of time.
For comparison, all benchmark results will also include the results from the 6800 GT PCI-Express graphics card. The 6800GT has 4 additional pixel pipelines and runs the core at 25MHz faster than the 6800 core while the memory is 300MHz faster.
