Here we have a side profile of the 172X and see how shallow the dept of the display is. The actual panel portion is very thin as all of the electronics and connections are contained inside of the base of the unit.
The hinge might be an area of concern for some people. In the photo, the lower base hinge is fully extended to its maximum height. This limits how high the LCD panel can rest off of the desktop surface. For some people this may not be a problem. Others may either need to find a stand to rest the monitor on or be comfortable with tilting the monitor back and be looking down at the monitor.
The hinge surfaces for the panel are very large and well built. They were very stiff which made adjusting the monitor a bit difficult at times, but once in the desired position, the monitor is not likely to move. The monitor hinge is placed very low on the back of the panel, this can make adjusting the angle of the display difficult with the stiffness of the hinge. Be sure to grip both sides of the panel when adjusting the tilt.
