As previously mention, most LCD monitor panels tend to integrate all of the electronics into the LCD panel. This also means that many of them require that the cables be plugged into the back of the panel. Samsung has elected to integrate all of these electronics into the base of the 172X monitor.
On the back of the base are three physical connectors. On the left is the power plug for the external AC power adapter. In the middle is the DVI connector for digital signals from the computer. One the right is the DB15 or standard analog connection. Both connectors can be used to separate computers and selected manually by the controls on the panel.
