12/12/05 – One of the biggest problems surrounding many of the performance desktop computers is their price. Most manufacturers see it as a way to boost their profits on their systems to make up for the extremely competitive prices for the lower end systems. ABS PC's Ultimate M6 Sniper takes a much different approach making it much more affordable.
The M6 Sniper is based around the AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor line that gives spectacular performance for multitasking but is also extremely strong for single threaded applications such as PC gaming. This makes it very well suited to pretty much any application, not just gaming. It is matched up with 2GB of Corsair XMS extra low latency PC3200 DDR memory that lets it run smoothly through any applications.
Storage is quite strong with options for a terbayte RAID 0 array comprised of two Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 Serial ATA 300 hard drives that provide plenty of storage with a good amount of performance. An NEC 16x DVD+/-RW dual layer DVD burner along with a Sony 16x DVD-ROM provide the optical storage.
Graphics wise the M6 Sniper is very strong. The system uses the NVIDIA nForce 4 SLI chipset to allow the system to use two graphics cards for increase performance. ABS offers two GeForce 7800 GTX cards that provide great 3D performance with a variety of aliasing features enabled at high resolutions.
One problem that people can encounter with the M6 Sniper is delays in the order due to component supplies.
