Guide Review - ABS Ultimate M6 SLI

12/20/04 - ABS computers is one of the many systems integrators in the marketplace searching for a segment to make a name for itself. Right now performance systems get most of the press. To answer to this, they have developed the ABS Ultimate M6 SLI.

The Ultimate M6 SLI is based around the latest NVIDIA chipset that stresses performance for graphics, the nForce 4 SLI. It allows for two NVIDIA PCI Express graphics cards to be placed into the PC to give it near double performance. To this end, ABS has included two eVGA GeForce 6800 GT cards to give this system a tremendous level of 3D graphics.

Not to be left behind, the system is powered by the very strong AMD Athlon FX-55 processor. This is matched up with 1GB of Corsair XMS3200 low latency DDR memory. This gives the system some of the best overall performance for graphics available on the market.

Storage is also very strong. Two Maxtor 120GB SATA hard drives are put together into a 240GB RAID0 performance drive array. Optical storage is handled by the impressive NEC 16x DVD burner and a Sony 16x DVD-ROM drive.

The system does lack speakers or a monitor to round out the system. This of course will lead to extra expenses for the consumer. It also does not come equipped with any productivity software preinstalled. It doesn't reach the pinnacle of performance though as there is room for improvement in some of the components. Still, it is an impressive system for those who can afford it.
