Guide Review - CyberPower Gamer Xtreme XT Performance Gaming Desktop PC

12/10/08 - CyberPower's Gamer Xtreme XT is a customizable performance system that is based around the new Intel Core i7 desktop processors. These new processors with their built-in DDR3 memory controller offer some significant performance enhancements over the previous Core 2 architectures. They even include an Asetek liquid cooling solution for the processor. Even with the Core i7 920 processor, the Gamer Xtreme has some outstanding performance that is boosted by the use of triple core PC3-10600 DDR3 memory configuration.

Since the system is designed for gaming, graphics are quite important. Rather than skimping and using an older card, CyberPower placed a Radeon HD 4870 card in the Gamer Xtreme base setup. While not the X2 flagship model or a 1GB version, it still does an excellent job playing current 3D titles. Of course, users have the option of switching to an NVIDIA card or even adding a second card for SLI or CrossFire configurations.

While many companies tend to outfit their performance systems with fairly low end hard drive to get people to upgrade, CyberPower puts a large one terabyte drive inside the Gamer Xtreme XT base configuration. This should be plenty for most users but additional drives can be added for those that need more space. A dual layer DVD burner and a DVD-ROM drive handle all CD and DVD tasks for the system.

Another great aspect to CyberPower's Gamer Xtreme XT is that it comes with a three year warranty standard. Many companies only offer a single year and require consumers to purchase expensive warranty plans to extend it to three years.

The only real problem with the Gamer Xtreme XT is for those looking to customize the configuration. There are so many options available that consumers can easily get confused by all the choices.
