What products can be submitted?
The About PC Hardware / Reviews site is focused on PC compatible desktop computers, notebook computers, monitors and internal computer components used in desktop computer systems. Items that are external peripherals such as printers, scanners, mice, keyboards and external drives are covered by other sites within the About network. If you are not sure if it is something that I might cover, please feel free to contact me and I will let you know if I cover it or if there is another site on about that is more appropriate for the product.
What will be covered in the review?
There are two review formats that I post on the PC Hardware / Reviews site. The first is a summary review that consists of a star rating, description of the product, a short one- or two-sentence overview and up to 1500 character review. The review can also feature a 170x170 maximum product photo that either I will take during evaluation or sized based upon graphics provided.
The second article that may be generated is a product tour. This is up to ten pages in length describing various aspects of the product. Each page has up to 1500 characters in length and can contain a 400x400 maximum graphic. These are pictures that I take of the product during the evaluation.
Important Notes About Product Submissions
- Please notify me that you wish to submit a product, what the product is and any other information you may require such as non-disclosure agreements or evaluation agreements.
- If the product must be returned, please let me know prior to shipping the product and provide the method for the return shipping.
- All products will be thoroughly evaluated but I cannot guarantee that the product will be returned in as-new condition. I will make every effort to return the product in the best condition possible.
- All product reviews are final. The content of reviews will not be changed after they are posted unless there are grammatical errors in the content.
- I will attempt to post reviews in a timely manner (approximately 30 days) after receiving the product.
- If quotations of the review will be used, please attribute them to “Mark Kyrnin, About PC Hardware / Reviews Guide” and the url of http://compreviews.about.com. Full review reprints require the approval of both myself and About.
