The Bottom Line
The Polywell Poly i7150A-3SL may seem like a solid overall system at first glance, but the included items and extra features just don't seem to stack up well against other slim and small form factor desktop systems. In the end, it is an average overall system that offers some good deskop features, but could have been much more.

Guide Review - Polywell Poly i7150A-3SL Slim Desktop Personal Computer

3/26/08 – Polywell's i7150A is not a very well known small form factor system. It uses a slim design case to pack in desktop components into a smaller case design. While the Poly i7150A-3SL uses a desktop processor, it is using a fairly low end Core 2 Duo E4500 model. This still puts the performance higher than small form factors using mobile parts, but not quite to the same level as those using the E6000 series CPUs. Polywell does include 2GB of PC2-5300 DDR2 memory to let it run smoothly with the Vista operating system.

One area that the Poly i7150A is ahead of most is in storage. The 500GB desktop hard drive provides the system with plenty of space for applications and data files. The 18x dual layer DVD burner also performs much faster than the notebook oriented 8x drives in most small form factor systems.

Graphics on the system are mixed. It uses a newer GeForce 7150 SE integrated graphics processor that is a step up from the older 6150, but it still has very limited performance for 3D applications. The system does feature a 16x PCI-Express slot inside of it, but it is difficult to tell what video cards it can handle due to space and power constraints.

Another area there the Poly i7150A-3SL does well is with the ports. While HDMI has been in the market, it is still not very common for small form factor systems to feature it. In fact, many small systems still do not support DVI connectors. The system also has an eSATA connector for high performance storage peripherals.

As with most of the Polywell systems, the Poly i7150A comes with the operating system, but productivity software is an extra expense for those that wish to have it included.
