Many computer companies now sell computers in a variety of colored cases. The most common of these now seems to be a silver/grey or black. While the default beige bezel might work for older systems, it looks very out of place in many of the new system cases. Plextor has included with the system a black bezel that can be installed in place of the standard beige one.
Replacing the bezel is not a difficult task, but this is where the opening tool plays an important role. When the drive is not powered up, there is no way to open the cose other than to insert the opening tool into the small hole on the front of the panel. This will dislodge the drive door enough for it to be pulled open. This is the first step required to replacing the bezel.
Before the main bezel can be removed, the drive door bezel must be removed by gently sliding it up. Once this is done, the tabs holding the main bezel on can be dislodged to remove the bezel. If the drive tray bezel is not removed, it will not come off. The black bezel can then be put in place reversing the steps to remove the beige bezel.
