Fujitsu LifeBook S7110

About.com Rating 3

By Mark Kyrnin, About.com

The Bottom Line
Fujitsu's LifeBook avoids the trend of widescreen thin and light notebooks, but the features are more geared towards a corporate user that needs lots of battery life.

Guide Review - Fujitsu LifeBook S7110

5/23/06 – Fujitsu's LifeBook S7110 thin and light notebook is very clearly targeted at corporate users rather than consumers. This is highly evident by its specifications compared to other thin and light notebooks.

A good example of this is the Core Solo T1300 processor driving the S7110. This is a single core version of Intel's latest mobile processor. Battery life is very good with this and the single threaded performance is quite good, but most comparably priced systems are using the Core Duo T2300 that provides better multitasking performance without too much more cost.

Storage is also a bit below what the average consumer thin and light notebook would have. The 40GB hard drive does spin at the 5400rpm rate to give it respectable performance, but the size is much smaller than the 80 to 100GB drives seen in other systems. It does have a DVD burner included, something most business laptops do not.

Rather than using the wide screen LCD displays, Fujitsu opted instead to go with the traditional aspect ratio. It does use a integrated graphics processor that is a bit disappointing especially with the Aero interface on the upcoming Windows Vista OS.

The S7110 is fairly lightweight and compact for the 14.1” screen that does make it more portable. It is roughly a pound lighter than most consumer thin and lights with a similar sized screen.
