Guide Review - Lenovo ThinkPad T60p

11/13/06 – The ThinkPad T series of notebooks have always been popular with corporate customers and it is no surprise. The ThinkPad T60p offers a high level of portability with very strong computing performance. The latest revision comes equipped with the Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 processor that provides performance and battery life. The problem is that Lenovo offers a paltry 512MB based on the system and has hefty memory upgrade prices.

Storage wise the ThinkPad T60p is about average. The 100GB hard drive is plenty for corporate customers but could be small for consumers with a large amount of digital files. A 8x DVD+/-RW dual layer burner is included for reading or recording DVD and CD media. A lesser 24x CD-RW/DVD combo is available for those who don't wish to record to DVDs.

The ThinkPad T60p is really designed as a workstation replacement in a highly portable platform and this is apparent with its graphics. The 14.1” screen allows for the small dimension of the notebook but it features a very high 1400 x 1050 resolution. In addition, the graphics are powered by the ATI Mobility FireGL V5250 graphics that is optimized for OpenGL 3D graphics work.

Other security and durability features famous on the ThinkPad line continue to be offered with the T60p. The problem is that all of these features push up the notebook price beyond what many consumers may be willing to pay and for features they probably won't find useful outside of the corporate world.
