Guide Review - Toshiba Satellite M105-S3004

5/25/06 – Toshiba was one of the first companies to produce multimedia notebook computers that could run without the computer booting up the operating system. This feature is continued on their latest thin and light notebook computer system, the Satellite M105-S3004. The system has been updated to use the Windows XP Media Center OS, but the system lacks hardware items such as a remote and TV tuner to take full advantage of this software.

Powering the Satellite M105-3004 is the new Intel Core Duo T2300 processor. This improves the systems multitasking performance over previous systems while still conserving power usage. It is matched up with a full gigabyte of PC2-4200 DDR2 memory to let it run most applications without much problem.

Storage is quite good for the M105-S3004. The system comes standard with a 100GB hard drive. This provides plenty of storage space for files and programs and its 5400rpm speed helps boost performance. An 8x DVD burner is included to allow users to create movie, music or data DVDs and CDs.

One area that many thin and light notebooks lags is in the graphics. While the wide screen displays are great for additional graphics space or watching DVD movies, the integrated graphics such as that on the M105-S3004 prevent the system from using many 3D applications such as games or the upcoming Aero interface of windows Vista.
